Hi, I’m Jolin! I’m a PhD student living near the Euromast in Rotterdam with my husband and our adopted dog, Sony. I grew up with a Labrador and a Pomeranian, and I’ve always loved being around dogs. Sony is a gentle, neutered little dog, about 3 years old and weighing around 3 kg. We live in a lovely area with plenty of green space for walks. My husband works from home, and we make sure someone is always home with the dogs, so your dog will have company and plenty of attention. They’re welcome to relax on the sofa or sleep on the bed, if that’s what you allow at home. We’ll follow their usual feeding and walking routine and give them time to settle in at their own pace. I sometimes need a dog sitter for Sony too, so I understand how worrying it can be to leave your dog with someone else. I’ll look after yours with the same care I give Sony and send regular photos and updates so you can feel at ease while you’re away. You’re very welcome to meet us and Sony before booking—we’d love to get to know you and your dog!

A second home for your dog

Hi! I’ve always loved dogs, and being around animals has been an important part of my life. I grew up in a family with dogs, so caring for them has always felt natural to me. Before moving to the Netherlands, I regularly took care of my brother’s dog, Nala (she’s the one in my profile picture!). We spent lots of time together going on walks, playing, and keeping a fun routine at home. One of our favorite games was hide-and-seek, and I also loved teaching her little tricks. We had a great experience with Lucia! She was very caring and attentive, and kept us updated throughout Luna’s stay with lots of photos and videos. Dieren geven mij liefde in het leven. Ik heb altijd katten thuis gehad, totdat ik in Delft ging studeren. Ik heb veel ervaring met oppassen op katten en honden: voor wandelingen, om te spelen of om bij mij te logeren. Cats always let me give them pets 🤭

I have always had pets at home since I was a child (from cats, to guinea pigs, to even a rabit and a duck once!). Currently, I unfortunately cannot have pets at home in the Netherlands because of my housing agreement... no pets allowed 🫤. But I miss it so much and I say all the time to my partner "I really wish I could get a cat!". My best days are when my neighbour's cat is outside the house in the sun and I can just give it some pets. Back in my homecountry I still have three awesome and super cute cats at my parents' house. I live with my partner in Blijdorp, we have a quite spacious house and a small garden. We both love dogs but due to work and holidays we can’t have one ourselves so we love to occasionally take care of them. (English below) Katten- of hondenmens? Ik ben het allebei! Hoi! Ik ben Sterre, ik ben 33 jaar oud. Ik ben op zoek naar een viervoetermaatje. Of dat nu in de vorm van een kat of een hond is, maakt mij niet veel uit. Ik vind beide dieren leuk! In mijn ouderlijk huis ben ik opgegroeid in een gezellige beestenbende. We hadden een hond (recent: Heidewachtel, vroeger: Vlinderhondje), 4 katten, konijnen, kippen en cavia’s. Ik heb zelf één van onze honden opgevoed en ik ben ermee op cursus gegaan (de Heidewachtel, een jachtras). Onze poes is tweemaal zwanger geweest, waarvan ze één nestje heeft verworpen. Deze kittens heb ik toen ook verzorgd en gevoed. Kortom: ik ben praktisch opgegroeid als dierenverzorger. Later, als uitgevlogen vogel uit het ouderlijk nest, had ik helaas geen mogelijkheid tot huisdieren ivm verbod door huisbaas. Gelukkig kan ik af en toe oppassen op de katten van mijn ouders en de kat en Appenzeller Sennenhond van een vriendin. Maar ik mis de regelmatige, dierlijke connectie enorm. Honden en katten maken mij blij en ik merk de connectie met ze. Zij voelen dat bij mij aan, vaak lopen honden uit zichzelf vrolijk op mij af om hallo te zeggen en te snuffelen. For someone who had a dog and is not able to have one now, I feel "at home" meeting different characters & bond with your beloved dog. I dogsitted occasionally during the last few years since I moved to The Hague. Nature walks are my thing and my neighboorhood is luckily close to pet friendly spots. I spend weekdays at my pottery atelier and bring the dogs along, where they chill on a blanket or sofa.
