This summer, I volunteered for two weeks at a shelter caring for dogs rescued from wildfires. During this time, I had the chance to meet and care for dogs of all kinds — different sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. Some were playful and energetic, others shy or sensitive, and many simply needed patience and gentle reassurance. This experience taught me how important calmness, empathy, and adaptability are when caring for dogs. I believe every dog deserves to feel safe, understood, and loved. I always respect their routines, feeding schedules, and walking habits, and I take the time to get to know each dog’s individual needs. I approach dog care with kindness, patience, and genuine attention, never rushing or forcing interaction. My boyfriend Tim and I love dogs. I grew up in a vet family with loads of pets and all sorts of dogs around. Since our Cypriot dog passed away last year we have been dog sitting various neighborhood furry friends. We work from home most of the time, which gives us flexibility to do frequent walks and little adventures. We live right next to Erasmus and Rembrandt park. If time permits and if your dog is up for it, we love going to the forest or the beach. The appartment isn’t huge but well catered for a dog, and we love playing and training with dogs as well. The house is only accessible by stairs.

Tesse and Tim alternated the walks with - and care for - Felan. He loved them equally. On the pictures sent by Tesse an Tim is clearly visible that Felan had a great time when they sat him. Communication went smoothly, all in all I can only hope that we can prolongue this petsitting arrangement in the future.

Hondenoppas met veel ervaring met grote honden

Als ervaren hondenbezitter heb ik jarenlang met veel plezier een Oud-Duitse Herder en een Berner Sennen gehad. Hierbij heb ik zelf de volledige opvoeding gedaan en ben daardoor goed bekend met het gedrag, de behoeften en de kracht van grote honden. Overigens zijn kleine honden ook welkom. Op dit moment heb ik zelf even geen tijd om weer een hond te nemen, maar wél de tijd, ruimte en aandacht om op te passen.
