Hoi! Ik ben Karin van Leijen, 29 jaar oud en ik woon in Amsterdam-Osdorp, vlak bij het Sloterpark. Jarenlang heb ik met heel veel liefde voor mijn lieve Roemeense straathond Holly mogen zorgen. Helaas is zij in augustus overleden en sindsdien mis ik een maatje om mee te wandelen, spelen en knuffelen. Ik ben nog niet toe aan een nieuwe eigen hond, maar ik geniet er wel enorm van om tijd met honden door te brengen. Ik ben graag buiten, of dat nu een wandeling is in het park, een uitstapje naar het bos of lekker uitwaaien op het strand. Dat doe ik natuurlijk het liefst met een trouwe viervoeter aan mijn zijde! Door mijn jarenlange ervaring met Holly weet ik hoe belangrijk het is dat een hond zich veilig, geliefd en op zijn gemak voelt. Ik neem graag de tijd om een hond te leren kennen en stem mijn aandacht af op zijn karakter en behoeften. Vanaf mijn geboorte tot aan mijn studeren hebben we altijd honden in huis gehad op de Veluwe. In mijn tijd op Aruba (10 jaar) heb ik in huishoudens gewoond waar ik mede voor meerdere (grote) honden heb gezorgd. (Bull Mastif, Deense Dogs, labrador, en verschillende geadopteerde straathonden). Het komt vaak voor dat honden heel blij zijn om mij te zien. Dat komt denk ik doordat ik een bepaalde rust uitstraal, respect voor ze heb en geen gekke dingen met ze doe. Mijn werkleven in Amsterdam is niet geschikt voor huisdieren maar ik kan wellicht wel zo nu en dan voor huisdieren van anderen zorgen.

Richard had 2 medium-large dogs growing up and I grew up with 2 cats (currently we do not have pets at our home but would love them in the future). Most of all we love animals and happy to help anyone that needs reliable pet sitters! We live in a quiet residential area in Amsterdam, and our apartment is large enough for dogs of all sizes. Animals have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by dogs, cats and horses and have been actively caring for animals since I was very young. Our family dogs included an Italian Greyhound, Tibetan Spaniel and Chihuahua, and I also had my own cat who came into our family the same week I was born and stayed with us for 21 years, so I truly grew up alongside him. I now also regularly pet sit through Petbnb and have looked after dogs of different ages, sizes and personalities, both for daycare and overnight stays. I love getting to know each dog's individual routine and personality and making their stay feel as comfortable and familiar as possible. I’m happy to go on longer walks with active dogs, but equally happy to spend the day playing, cuddling or simply keeping a more relaxed pet company at home. I live with my partner in a spacious three-bedroom apartment with a large balcony, and we don't have any pets of our own, so your pet will get plenty of attention and space to feel at home. I’m most comfortable with small and medium-sized dogs, although I also have experience with larger breeds. I’m happy to care for puppies, energetic dogs, seniors and dogs that need a little extra time to warm up. I also have lots of experience with cats and am comfortable with feeding, litter boxes, playtime and both affectionate and more independent personalities. Since moving abroad, having my own pet hasn't suited my lifestyle, and having animals around is something I genuinely miss. Pet sitting gives me the best of both worlds, I get to have that companionship again while giving someone else's pet lots of love, attention and some very good walks. ❤️

By taking behavioral dog training courses as well as teaching our late Swiss shepherd agility and tracking, I’ve grown to love shepherds and retrievers. However, I am a big fan of most other breeds too! While I live in an apartment, it is located right next to the Amstel - with plenty outdoor space and a short metro ride from Gaasperplas. Onze hond Nobu vindt het heerlijk om met andere hondjes te spelen. Omdat we nog van plan zijn om veel te reizen, kiezen we ervoor om nu geen tweede hond te nemen.
