Hoi! We are Nick and Lili. We speak Dutch, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese in both human and dog language ;) We live on a peaceful island on the border of Zaandam, in a special place close to the Zaanse Schans and the Natural Reserve Area of Kalverpolder, near Amsterdam. Although we don’t have our own dogs, we love animals, and are lucky to have a fun "fauna" here already: from a turtle that visits from time to time to all kinds of waterfowl. Our 'dogiculum': Nick was brought up in France and Spain, raised with a lot of Irish Setters. Lili, growing up in Brazil made her very familiar with all types of street and rescue dogs. After more than 3 years as dog sitters, we have the experience of over 100 happy clients. It has been an educational journey for us learning about dogs, their various quirks and and getting to know so many different dogs and becoming a part of their lives. We now believe dogs have a unique experience here, as they can exist in near total freedom, in a pack, playing, foraging, chilling or even sleeping together, and with our near constant near-presence. That's how we reached progressively this “spa-like” bubble environment, where dogs can socialize and/or relax at their will. If we have only one guest, they stay with us in the main house of course. Some extra info: . Our island has 3 main buildings, one of them is the guesthouse transformed into a doggyhouse. It’s surrounded by a big 'foresty garden’ and the super clean air. They have a fenced and safe area at their disposition for playing and lounging outside. . As we both work from home, we have lots of time and love for our guests, and so they are usually supervised 24/7. . Walks are included as they have access to the garden whenever we go walking throughout the island's interwoven paths. . We do not take dogs that are either too anxious, protective or aggressive (ie. Samen met mijn vriend zorg ik met veel liefde en aandacht voor honden. Hij heeft als kind zelf honden gehad en we passen regelmatig op honden van vrienden, waardoor we gewend zijn aan verschillende rassen en karakters. We wonen in een appartement vlakbij een park, met voldoende tijd en gelegenheid om dagelijks meerdere wandelingen te maken. Opgegroeid met allerlei dieren, zoals paardjes, geiten, kippen, eenden, katten en honden. Ook ervaring met bange dieren die een traumatisch verleden hebben gehad waardoor ik een rustige houding heb tegenover dieren. Ik ben flexibel qua tijd en dagen. Ik werk als docent en heb daardoor een afwisselend rooster waardoor ik soms niet beschikbaar ben door het les geven, maar tegelijkertijd ook vaak thuis kan werken. Sinds jongs af aan heb ik veel honden in huis gehad. Het waren voornamelijk honden die gered werden van de armoedige straten in Egypte. Ik heb daarom een grote liefde ontwikkeld voor dieren en voornamelijk honden. Ik ben over het algemeen elke dag beschikbaar en ben als persoon erg flexibel als het gaat om tijd. Wandelen doe ik graag, dus een hond aan mijn zijde hebben voor een paar uurtjes is alleen maar top. Voor de rest ben ik een persoon die zich goed houdt aan schema's en zeer attentief is als het gaat om bijzonderheden die in achting moeten worden genomen.

From the pictures Ira sent us every day, Maggie clearly had a great time while we were away... lots of walks, cuddles on the couch and plenty of attention, she seemed happy and relaxed and our house was also in perfect order. Ira has a really calm and confident energy about her that puts you at ease straight away, and you can see why dogs feel so comfortable around her. We felt completely at ease leaving Maggie and our home with her. We’d happily have Ira sit for us again and would highly recommend her.
