When I was 7 years old, my parents got me a dog to help me overcome a difficult emotional period and learn about responsability. Throughout her life, she taught me that and much more. As I was the one responsible for her feeding and medication, she was the most attached to me. In the pandemic, we would spend the entire time together, and she helped me when I felt the most lonely. Leaving her was the hardest part of moving to a different continent to study. With her, I learned about dog body language, dog training, and the responsibility required to take care of a dog. Unfortunately, she passed away right after I moved to the Netherlands, but I will never forget the joy that comes from caring for a dog. I also lived with a dog last year, and from him I learned even more about different styles of communication. I remain fascinated by dogs of any type. I am the type of person who will stop whatever they are doing to pet a dog on the street, and I have a hard time remaining concentrated on my work when a toy magically lands on my lap. It's just too hard to say no to their hopeful little faces!
