Breed at a glance
Our editors rate each trait from 1 (low) to 5 (high). These are general breed characteristics, not reviews, and every pet is different.
- Sitter links
- Standard variety; medium and miniature are listed separately
- Grooming
- Adapt to your dog’s individual coat
Exercise needs
Balance suitable walks and familiar activities with time to rest.
Grooming
Our estimate for a longer doodle coat: allow time for brushing and combing. A shorter coat needs a different plan.
Playfulness
Include a favourite game in the day and let your dog set the pace.
Feeding & daily routine
Choose a complete food suited to your dog’s life stage. Leave the sitter clear instructions for their usual meals and treats.

The booking total includes paid bookings, as well as completed and reviewed stays or visits. It doesn’t mean every stay or visit has already taken place. Sitter counts and city rankings are based on the breeds sitters list on their profiles, rather than their booking history. This experience is self-reported; check availability for your dates.

Looking after a Labradoodle starts with getting to know the individual dog. Show the sitter how you groom yours, which walks they enjoy and how they settle afterwards. Those everyday details are more useful than expecting the word “doodle” to explain everything.
Did you know? Australian Labradoodle means something more specific
ALAEU explains that Australian Labradoodle ancestry also includes Cocker Spaniels. The name does not describe every Labrador–Poodle cross. The association recognises three sizes. Ask about your dog’s background, while remembering that their name and size cannot tell a sitter how they will behave.
ALAEU: the Australian Labradoodle
Show the sitter your grooming routine
ALAEU recommends checking a brushed coat with a comb and warns that coat change can bring more tangles. Coat type and length affect the care needed. Severe matting calls for professional help.
Use the meet and greet for a short demonstration. Bring your dog’s brush and comb, show how you begin and explain when to stop. Point out any areas your dog dislikes having touched, and agree whom the sitter should contact if grooming is difficult. Arrange any appointment with a groomer separately, rather than assuming it is included in the stay.
Plan a familiar day
The association describes Australian Labradoodles as needing physical activity, mental stimulation and company. Build a plan around your own dog, rather than applying the same exercise target to every doodle.
Write out an ordinary day: the first walk, meals, a favourite game and where your dog rests afterwards. Explain what happens when you go out too. A real example tells the sitter more than “can be left alone”. If you are unsure how your dog will cope, start with a short introduction or trial stay.
A low-shedding coat is not an allergy guarantee
AAAAI explains that pet allergens are found in skin flakes, saliva and urine. No dog breed is reliably hypoallergenic. Discuss allergies with the sitter in advance; coat type alone cannot tell you whether someone will react.
Which Labradoodle do the sitter links cover?
Petbnb lists standard, medium and miniature Labradoodles separately. The breed links and any figures on this page refer to Standard Labradoodles, rather than a combined total. At the meet and greet, ask about experience with your dog’s size, coat and daily needs.
