Hoi! We are Nick and Lili. We speak Dutch, English, French, Spanish and Portuguese in both human and dog language ;) We live on a peaceful island on the border of Zaandam, in a special place close to the Zaanse Schans and the Natural Reserve Area of Kalverpolder, near Amsterdam. Although we don’t have our own dogs, we love animals, and are lucky to have a fun "fauna" here already: from a turtle that visits from time to time to all kinds of waterfowl. Our 'dogiculum': Nick was brought up in France and Spain, raised with a lot of Irish Setters. Lili, growing up in Brazil made her very familiar with all types of street and rescue dogs. After more than 3 years as dog sitters, we have the experience of over 100 happy clients. It has been an educational journey for us learning about dogs, their various quirks and and getting to know so many different dogs and becoming a part of their lives. We now believe dogs have a unique experience here, as they can exist in near total freedom, in a pack, playing, foraging, chilling or even sleeping together, and with our near constant near-presence. That's how we reached progressively this “spa-like” bubble environment, where dogs can socialize and/or relax at their will. If we have only one guest, they stay with us in the main house of course. Some extra info: . Our island has 3 main buildings, one of them is the guesthouse transformed into a doggyhouse. It’s surrounded by a big 'foresty garden’ and the super clean air. They have a fenced and safe area at their disposition for playing and lounging outside. . As we both work from home, we have lots of time and love for our guests, and so they are usually supervised 24/7. . Walks are included as they have access to the garden whenever we go walking throughout the island's interwoven paths. . We do not take dogs that are either too anxious, protective or aggressive (ie. Richard had 2 medium-large dogs growing up and I grew up with 2 cats (currently we do not have pets at our home but would love them in the future). Sinds jongs af aan heb ik veel honden in huis gehad. Het waren voornamelijk honden die gered werden van de armoedige straten in Egypte. Ik heb daarom een grote liefde ontwikkeld voor dieren en voornamelijk honden. Ik ben over het algemeen elke dag beschikbaar en ben als persoon erg flexibel als het gaat om tijd. Wandelen doe ik graag, dus een hond aan mijn zijde hebben voor een paar uurtjes is alleen maar top. Honden die bij ons komen logeren moeten wel goed met andere honden kunnen omgaan 🥰 Dan kunnen ze samen met mijn eigen hondje, Bolt, van elkaars gezelschap genieten 💃 We wonen in een huis met een volledig omheinde achtertuin, waar jouw viervoeter veilig kan spelen. In onze keukendeur zit een klein dierenluikje, waardoor kleine honden zelfstandig naar binnen en buiten kunnen lopen (ideaal voor honden die van een beetje vrijheid houden!) 😉 Bij ons krijgen jouw honden niet alleen goede zorg, maar ook liefde, aandacht en knuffels. Of ze nu overdag komen spelen of ’s nachts blijven logeren, ik zorg ervoor dat ze zich hier thuis en gelukkig voelen. ❤️ Ik kijk er enorm naar uit om jouw hond(en) te leren kennen! From the pictures Ira sent us every day, Maggie clearly had a great time while we were away... lots of walks, cuddles on the couch and plenty of attention, she seemed happy and relaxed and our house was also in perfect order. We have years of dog-sitting experience. We also fostered a rescue dog ourselves. We will take care of your dogs as our own. Giving them the care, play and chill time they need. We both work hybrid, so most of the times there will be one of us at home. Due to circumstances we cannot own our dog ourselves. Therefore we would like to dog-sit instead. A few things about my parenting style - my curiosity of dog psychology and my will to be a better mom to Milu lead me into long hours reading and researching all topics regarding behavior and psychology, nutrition, exercises and training and well as the specific needs of different breeds. I bring love, patience, understanding and curiosity about the intricacies of each breed and character. What brings me here is how much I miss my little girl! Unfortunately I lost her to a heart condition and while I still find it painful, losing her and to balm down my wounds, I think caring for and receiving a little bit of love here and there would also make me very very happy! We had a great experience with Cristina! There was an instant connection between her and Ivy, and Ivy clearly felt very comfortable with her.
