I’m 24 and grew up with dogs my whole life. In my photo album, you’ll spot a little version of me with Bella, my first dog. She was a rescue, sweet, nervous, and the ultimate cuddle buddy. Not much of a fetch player though. Losing her was my first real heartbreak.

Later came Otto, the fluffy white guy in the other photos. He’s my soulmate in dog form. We did everything together. Cooking, talking, lounging around. He would follow me from room to room like a shadow with a tail. Since moving abroad, I miss him more than anything.

Right now I’m not in a place to have a dog of my own, but I really miss the company. I’ve looked after friends’ dogs here and there and thought, why not do it more often. I live with my boyfriend, who also loves dogs and works hybrid, mostly from home. Together, we share the care of any dogs I dog sit, making sure they receive plenty of attention and companionship. If one of us is away, the other is always there, so the dog is never left alone, and if they are, it is only for a very short time. His picture can be seen in the library with the other photos.
