Hi allemaal! I.v.m. internationale hondeneigenaren is de introductie in het Engels. I’m a 28-year-old with lifelong experience in training and raising dogs. By taking behavioral dog training courses as well as teaching our late Swiss shepherd agility and tracking, I’ve grown to love shepherds and retrievers. However, I am a big fan of most other breeds too! While I live in an apartment, it is located right next to the Amstel - with plenty outdoor space and a short metro ride from Gaasperplas. I’m well-versed in outdoor and indoor activities, and like to keep dogs occupied and happy. Open for discussion is the question whether your dog likes to do shared walks - my parents live nearby with our Collie-Husky mix (as seen in my fourth photo). (Note: when I’m unavailable, my mother (an experienced dog trainer) likes to offer herself up as a back-up. I can ask for her availability too, if your dog doesn’t mind staying with her and the family dog.) Dankzij ons flexibele werk is het altijd mogelijk ervoor te zorgen dat één van ons thuis is om de hond gezelschap te houden en voldoende aandacht te geven. Mijn vriend en ik wonen in een appartement op de begane grond (70m2) met een afgesloten tuin (26m2) in Amsterdam Oost, op wandelafstand van zowel het Oosterpark als het Flevopark – perfect voor zowel korte als lange wandelingen. Het hele appartement is gelijkvloers en er is genoeg ruimte voor een hondenbench of grote mand. Ook hebben we een werkkamer waar de hond kan slapen als dat fijn is. We zijn flexibel met het afspreken van ophaal- en brengmomenten. Laat het vooral weten als je een keertje kennis wilt maken! 😊

We had a great experience with Cristina! There was an instant connection between her and Ivy, and Ivy clearly felt very comfortable with her. Vanaf mijn geboorte tot aan mijn studeren hebben we altijd honden in huis gehad op de Veluwe. In mijn tijd op Aruba (10 jaar) heb ik in huishoudens gewoond waar ik mede voor meerdere (grote) honden heb gezorgd. (Bull Mastif, Deense Dogs, labrador, en verschillende geadopteerde straathonden). Het komt vaak voor dat honden heel blij zijn om mij te zien. Dat komt denk ik doordat ik een bepaalde rust uitstraal, respect voor ze heb en geen gekke dingen met ze doe. Mijn werkleven in Amsterdam is niet geschikt voor huisdieren maar ik kan wellicht wel zo nu en dan voor huisdieren van anderen zorgen.

Joost is een echte dierenvriend. Hij zorgt ervoor dat je hond geen aandacht te kort komt. Afspraken waren makkelijk te maken. Aanrader!

Betrouwbaar, zorgzaam en dol op alle dieren!

Hoi! Wij zijn Donalda (32 jaar) en David (36 jaar) en ouders van een dochtertje van 4 jaar oud en wij zijn dol op dieren! Mijn partner David en ik zijn allebei opgegroeid met dieren (honden en katten) en passen geregeld op de honden van familie en vrienden. Omdat het op dit moment niet helemaal passend is in ons leven om zelf voor een huisdier te kiezen, vinden wij het wel extra leuk om geregeld op te passen als dit schikt. Wij wonen in Amsterdam (Buitenveldert) en hebben ook een tuin. Daarnaast wonen wij dichtbij het ‘Ecolint’ wat een fijn wandelgebied is voor honden. En met als kers op de taart het Amsterdamse bos, wat met de auto op 5 minuten rijden ligt.

Donalda & David hebben met veel zorg en liefde op Syskha de Chiwawa gepast. Ze is niets tekortgekomen: fijne wandelingen ook in het Amsterdamse Bos, goed gegeten en volop aandacht en knuffels gekregen. Het was ook fijn om foto’s te krijgen en Sys vrolijk te zien. Een absolute aanrader voor iedereen, de volgende keer vraag ik hen zeker weer om op Syskha te passen.:dog2:

Meeting your pet’s needs with empathy and care

I have been a dog owner myself, as well as I have volunteered in an animal shelter for 2 years, so I am incredibly fond of dogs, cats and all other kinds of pets. As I am now a student who has moved away from home (so away from my family pets as well), I miss having animals around a lot. Additionally, since I’ve encountered all sorts pets in all sorts of states and traits, I take the time to introduce myself first, figure out the animal’s needs and only then move further with the care. I have 7 years of experience in taking care of dogs and cats, including the experience at the shelter. I have no preference for pets I sit, as well as I am rather flexible with my schedule - I can be available mornings, afternoons and evenings. I am a loving, gentle and caring sitter, described as "the one that has a way with animals." I find walking and/or sitting them genuinely pleasurable, so I always try to make the visits as warm as possible. Nonetheless, I am aware of the responsibility such care entails and make sure to do everything in my power to avoid any kind of negligence. When petsitting/boarding, I send regular photo updates, don’t leave the animals alone (unless allowed), walk them 3x a day and let them wander freely but safely around the apartment. I walk them regularly to provide toilet breaks as needed, but in cases of little accidents inside the apartment, I make sure to clean it up and generally to keep the pets in safe and higienic conditions. In addition to the > 15 minute walks, pets receive plenty of play time to fulfil their physical activity needs. I remain in consistent communication with the owners and feed/walk/provide medication/etc as instructed by the owners. I also spoil the pets with snacks, if allowed:) Fresh water is always available, as well food is provided as required by the owners. I try to stick to petsitting one animal at a time due to the stress different pets may cause to each other, but if allowed by the owners, I am always happy to sit a few animals at once. In case of an emergency, I will bring the pets to the vet or act in any other required manner as indicated by the owners. When dog walking, I take at least 30 minutes, keep my copy of the key safely, always check if everything is secured before leaving, dress the pet in provided attire if needed, carry the pets up/down the stairs if needed as well. During house visits, I spend at least an hour with the pets, playing with them and making sure they’re fed, walked and happy. I am also happy to house sit if that is preferred by the owners. If agreed in accordance with my schedule, I can house sit for an indefinite time. When house sitting, I always double check if everything is locked/turned off before leaving and/or night time. According to my regular clients, their pets are always excited to come back to my place - hope that would be the case with your pets as well:)
