My dog Newton loves going here! He has a great time playing with the other dogs in the field and garden. Katja sends a lovely update during the day with great pictures and videos. She made sure Newton was comfortable inside the house, letting him explore and settle where he wanted. She is great at reading his behaviour, knowing when he needs a break or some one-on-one play time. Fully recommend and Newotn will be a frequent visitor!

We are super happy with Katja and her lovely dog Mai. Our dog has spent (part of) the day with them on multiple occasions and he is comfortable around them. Katja communicates clearly and is friendly and flexible. She took the time to get to know our dog and pays attention to his personality and needs. Mai is very sweet and Katja monitors the interaction. As our dog enjoys lounging on the couch at home, it is great that he is allowed on the couch there as well. There is a good sized field behind the house for playtime. The garden can be used for playtime as well if the obstacles are cleared to avoid collision. Absolute perfection could be achieved if a fence or (temporary) poultry netting were installed along the narrow ditch to prevent escape. Our dog is a sighthound and can easily jump the ditch if he spots something in the next field, so the field is currently not safe for him. No complaint though! Katja clearly mentions this narrow canal in the description and she gives the dogs plenty of attention and exercise. All in all, everything is perfectly fine and we are lucky to have found such a wonderful dog sitter!

Joep, onze hond heeft het heel erg naar zijn zin gehad. Hij had de ruimte in een prachtige omgeving en kon zich helemaal uitleven. Prima, dus!

Rural Retreat for Your Dog
When you're in need of day-care or someone to watch over your dog for a night, I'm here to help! I understand the importance of ensuring your dog feels comfortable in their surroundings, so I do my best to ensure your dog has a relaxing stay. Your pup will enjoy long walks in the countryside, playful runs in our fenced garden, and cozy cuddle sessions on the couch.
During their stay, your dog will not only be in my care but will also have the company of Mai, our Podenco. Therefore, it's crucial to schedule a test walk/play date to ensure compatibility. 😊 If desired, we can arrange multiple meet-ups beforehand to help your dog become more familiar with us. Once everything goes smoothly, we can confirm the booking.
Because of Mai's nature, we are particularly well-suited to sighthounds. With their similar play styles, Mai often thrives in the company of another sighthound. Her love for running and her quirky habits can sometimes be a bit overwhelming for other dog breeds. Moreover, our home is already set up with plenty of soft surfaces to ensure maximum comfort for slender sighthounds.😊
A bit about the house:
We reside on the first floor of a shared farmhouse (note: access with a staircase). While we've our own (small) private and fenced garden, access to it is through the neighbours garden. As your dog makes their way through to our side, they'll encounter a senior German Shepherd (female), two goats, and chickens, all (except the German Shepherd who might sometime come say hi) safely confined to their designated areas, of course. There is also a field surrounded by canals next to the house for zoomies, however, one of the canals is not that wide (only about 1 meter), so playing on this field can only be done once your dog has visited us a few times, and if he/her is not an escape artist.
Inside the house, the day care dogs will spend time in a living room with a small balcony perfect for sunbathing. For boarding we have a dedicated room for dogs, though they can of course roam around in other areas. While the dogs are allowed to all the surfaces in the house, for the night, we wish the dog to be able to sleep on their own (or with Mai), but not sharing the bed with us. 😁
A bit about me:
I grew up with mixed-breed dogs and have always cherished my time with dogs of all shapes and sizes. Unable to have a dog in my first small Amsterdam apartment, I spent two years volunteering at a local shelter, where I gained valuable experience in dog-walking and care. This experience, coupled with training in handling various situations, has equipped me well for dog-sitting. Since welcoming Mai into my life, I've happily opened my home to provide dog day-care and occasional boarding. Both Mai and I benefit from the extra canine companionship, and I understand the challenges of finding a reliable place for your dog.
In addition to myself and Mai, my boyfriend also resides here. While he primarily works from the office, he may be present during occasional days, but rest assured he has also grown up with dogs and enjoys their company.
