The booking total includes paid bookings, as well as completed and reviewed stays or visits. It doesn’t mean every stay or visit has already taken place. Sitter counts and city rankings are based on the breeds sitters list on their profiles, rather than their booking history. This experience is self-reported; check availability for your dates.

A Whippet needs a clear plan for time outdoors and somewhere comfortable to unwind afterwards. A meet-and-greet is not a speed trial. Show your sitter how you leave the house safely, how the familiar collar or harness fits and which walking arrangements to follow.

Did you know?

The Raad van Beheer traces the Whippet’s development to mining communities in northern England, where the dogs were raced. A sporting history is not a reason to fill a stay with running. Start with the daily routine your own dog already knows.

Raad van Beheer

Agree where off-lead exercise is appropriate

Write down where your dog stays on lead and how they respond to sudden movement. A sitter who has just met them should not have to test recall in an unfamiliar place. Agree any enclosed exercise areas beforehand and check the gates together. A photograph of a fence cannot tell you whether there will be gaps or open access on the day.

Make downtime part of the plan

Explain where your Whippet sleeps and how they settle after a walk. Pack familiar bedding and agree the rules about sofas and beds. If your dog normally wears a coat in cold or wet weather, show the sitter which one and how it fits. The first evening should not involve guessing which home comforts are allowed.

Simple grooming, thoughtful handling

The fine, smooth coat needs little maintenance. Even so, demonstrate drying off and checking paws. Agree what the sitter should do if your dog seems tender, limps or avoids being handled. Do not introduce unfamiliar care products without discussion. A small everyday task at home may take a little getting used to with a new person.

Your Petbnb trial: getting out of the door safely

Walk through the departure routine: equipment on, lead attached, then the door opens. Discuss other animals in the sitter’s home using your dog’s actual experience rather than general breed descriptions. Finally, ask how the sitter would organise the first evening. Their plan should reflect the walks and downtime you have agreed.

Feeding during a stay

Pack the familiar complete food in measured portions. Agree which rewards fit within the daily allowance and record any dietary requirements.
