- Build
- Broad and compact
Exercise needs
Keep walks comfortable and adjust activity for warm weather or breathing difficulties.
Grooming
The short coat is straightforward, but skin folds need daily checks and care.
Playfulness
Choose gentle, familiar games and stop if your dog seems uncomfortable.
Feeding & daily routine
Measure the usual portions and include treats in the daily allowance; excess weight can make breathing harder. Use complete food for their life stage and keep any prescribed diet unchanged.

The booking total includes paid bookings, as well as completed and reviewed stays or visits. It doesn’t mean every stay or visit has already taken place. Sitter counts and city rankings are based on the breeds sitters list on their profiles, rather than their booking history. This experience is self-reported; check availability for your dates.

A good stay for an English Bulldog starts with comfort. Your sitter needs to know their usual walking routine, daily care and any advice from your vet. Noisy or laboured breathing should never be dismissed as simply part of being a Bulldog.
Did you know?
The name comes from bullbaiting, the historical activity for which the breed’s ancestors were used. That history says little about how to plan a comfortable stay today: the individual dog’s health and familiar routine come first.
Plan for warm days
The LICG warns that a short muzzle can make cooling down harder. In warm weather, choose cooler times, shade and limited exertion. Agree which walk can be shortened and where your dog can rest comfortably. Access to a garden does not mean they should stay outside in the heat. Breathing distress or collapse needs urgent veterinary attention.
Demonstrate daily care
A short coat does not tell the whole story: skin folds need daily checks and appropriate cleaning. Show the sitter your established routine and pack the products you already use. Leave clear instructions about whom to contact if there is redness, discomfort or a change in smell. A stay away is not the time to experiment with new treatments.
Your Petbnb meet-and-greet: try an ordinary walk
Meet at a quiet time and walk a familiar route together. Show the sitter where you pause, then discuss the resting space at home. Previous Bulldog experience is useful, but the practical question is whether the sitter can follow your dog’s exercise, warm-weather and care plan. Agree how they would get to your vet if necessary.
Feeding during a stay
Measure the usual portions and include treats in the daily allowance; excess weight can make breathing harder. Use complete food for their life stage and keep any prescribed diet unchanged.
