The booking total includes paid bookings, as well as completed and reviewed stays or visits. It doesn’t mean every stay or visit has already taken place. Sitter counts and city rankings are based on the breeds sitters list on their profiles, rather than their booking history. This experience is self-reported; check availability for your dates.

For an Abyssinian, the home’s layout deserves attention alongside the food bowl. The Cat Fanciers’ Association describes the breed as active and curious, with an interest in high places. Give your sitter more than a key: show them your cat’s favourite routes, resting places and games.
Did you know? The colour comes in bands on each hair
The CFA describes the characteristic ‘ticking’: individual hairs have different colour bands. This makes the short coat look different from an ordinary solid colour. It is a breed detail to enjoy, not a sign that the cat needs special food or treatment.
Take the sitter on a short ‘cat tour’ of the house. Point out the high resting place your cat is allowed to use, show which cupboard doors stay closed and check windows together. This reveals where your curious cat can safely retreat or look around.
Let your cat set the pace of play
Demonstrate a familiar game and explain how you recognise when your cat wants to begin or stop. Offer contact without constantly picking them up. An active cat may seek attention yet prefer sitting beside you to sitting on your lap.
Put toys in the agreed place afterwards. Discuss which items are only used under supervision. The sitter does not need to rearrange the home continually: familiar routes and a manageable play session can be comforting.
Plan more than refilling bowls
Ask how visits will be organised. Alongside food and the litter tray, include observation, contact and agreed play. Exact needs vary between cats; adapt visits accordingly and discuss what is possible if your Abyssinian responds to your absence differently from expected.
Make updates specific: have they left their resting place, played, and how much have they eaten? This provides more information than ‘all fine’. There is no need to turn every quiet afternoon into a problem.
A simple routine for a short coat
According to the CFA, the short coat needs relatively little maintenance. Show which soft brush your cat knows and whether they enjoy brushing. Keep the existing routine and do not force grooming during a meet and greet.
Count food used in games as part of their daily portion
Use complete cat food for the appropriate life stage and the agreed quantity. Keep food for a familiar puzzle separate from the meal, but count both. The breed is known for activity; that does not tell you how much your individual cat actually needs. Ask your vet about body condition and feeding if unsure.
Three questions for the sitter
- How will you check windows and doors while my cat watches curiously?
- Which familiar game can you offer without asking too much of them?
- Can you briefly record what they ate and how they sought contact at each visit?
